|PALS Program Visits Prattville Intermediate School|
Encouraging Recycling on Campus
Prattville Intermediate School students are an enthusiastic group already making a difference in their community. Angela Landry, principal of Prattville Intermediate School, invited Mary Stanford, PALS Clean Campus Program coordinator, to talk with the students about littering, recycling and their carbon footprint.
Students realized littering can be a threat to public health and schools are essential in educating students, administrators and community leaders. The PALS program provides a learning experience for everyone involved. The program also provides opportunities for teachers to offer valuable hands-on, real-life projects to students. In addition, recycling may help schools save money through avoided disposal costs. Depending on what is recycled, there may be a chance to earn revenue from the sale of the collected items. Prattville Intermediate School is recycling paper, cardboard, aluminum and plastic. They have an ongoing "recycling club" encouraging everyone to participate.
