Cherry Chocolate Blooms
1 cup powdered sugar
1 cup butter, softened
2 teaspoon maraschino cherry liquid
1/2 teaspoon almond extract
3 drops red food color
1-1/2 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup maraschino cherry
48 each candy (chocolate)
Heat oven to 350°. In large bowl, combine powdered sugar, butter, cherry liquid, almond extract and food color; blend well. Lightly spoon flour into measuring cup; level off. Add flour and salt, mix well. Stir in cherries. If necessary, cover dough with plastic wrap; refrigerate 1 hour for easier handling. Shape dough into 1 inch balls, place 2 inches a part on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes or until edges are lightly brown.
Yields 4 dozen cookies.

A tasty cookie with cherries and a chocolate surprise.

Well,
I didn't get any responses from the counties selected last month, so I
just selected a few I found interesting. I hope you enjoy this
selection. As you can see, my 'sweet tooth' was directing my picks.
The
counties selected for March are: Geneva, Greene and Randolph. If you
