On October 31st, 2006, Alabama Farmers Cooperative (AFC) celebrated its 70th anniversary with lots of balloons. AFC was organized 1936 when a group of farmers pooled their money to buy fertilizer in bulk.

Today, through the company’s diversity, AFC has grown to become one of the largest farmer owned agriculture related businesses in the Southeast. There are currently more than seventy Quality Co-op retail operations throughout Alabama, the Panhandle of Florida and western Georgia serving the needs of farmers and homeowners.

AFC manufactures livestock feed at a mill in Decatur, AL, where it also operates a large distribution warehouse. It also merchandises grain through granaries located around the state.

Anderson’s Peanuts is the company’s peanut division and is a large food grade and seed peanut processor headquartered in Opp, AL.

Bonnie Plant Farm, headquartered in Union Springs, AL, is AFC’s plant division and sells vegetable, flowering annuals and herbs in every contiguous state in the U.S.

Currie Gin, located in McCullough, AL, is AFC’s cotton gin division offering ginning, storage and marketing services to cotton producers in the area.

SouthFresh, LLC is an integrated catfish operation located in west-central Alabama and in Indianola, MS, that was formed to provide catfish producers with stockfish and feed along with processing and marketing services.

Agri-AFC, LLC was formed for AFC retail stores to buy competitively priced crop protectants, crop nutrients and seed.

In 2005, AFC formed another LLC with Mossy Oak’s BioLogic division. BioLogic, LLC is headquartered in West Point, MS, and develops crop protectants, feed products, seed and fertilizer for wildlife managers for everything from deer and turkey to fish and waterfowl.
