Feeding Facts

STIMU-LYX is Co-op’s Newest Product
Stimulates Digestion and Absorption

We recently used this article to inform you of our decision to introduce our new line of low-moisture supplement tubs into the marketplace. We also discussed the reasons for this and the benefits this product would offer producers in Alabama. I would now like to offer more specific information on the product line and the feeding situation each product best fits.

The general name for our product will be Stimu-lyx. We feel this is a fitting name for the product because of its role in fiber digestion. As mentioned last month, this product will help "stimulate" forage digestion and absorption allowing you to realize more nutrition from your hay and grass program. This product is also highly fortified in minerals and vitamins to also help "stimulate" the immune system and reproductive performance. Under the product name Stimu-lyx, we have developed the following line to meet the needs of cattle, horse and goat producers in Alabama.

STIMU-LYX HLF 30 - Designed to offer protein, supplemental energy, and mineral and vitamin fortification for cattle only. It is designed for moderate to low quality forages to increase forage utilization and to improve reproductive performance. This block contains 30 percent protein and 4 percent fat along with 350 ppm of copper and 1.5% phosphorus. It is available in a 200 pound non-returnable tub and will replace Crystalyx BGF 30 in our stores.

STIMU-LYX All Natural 25% - An all-natural 25 percent protein block high in bypass protein and is fortified with 1,000 ppm of zinc and 4.4 ppm of selenium. It is designed for all classes of cattle, including breeding age animals. The high bypass protein percent along with a superior mineral and vitamin package will offer superior benefits to your herd. IT is available in a 200 pound non-returnable tub and will replace Crystalyx All Natural 27 % in our stores.

STIMU-LYX High Mag Fescue Relief - Designed for cattle consuming fescue forages. The 20 percent protein along with extra trace minerals and vitamins help with fiber digestion and reduce the visible signs of problems associated with endophyte fescue. The 4.4 percent magnesium, when fed consistently, will also offer cattle protection from grass tetany. It is available in a 200 pound non-returnable tub and will replace Crystalyx Hi-Mag Fescue-lyx and Fescue-lyx in our stores.

STIMU-LYX High Energy 12% - An all-natural 12 percent protein product containing 5 percent fat for a higher energy supplement. It is designed for cattle, horses and goats consuming moderate to higher quality forages. It also contains essential minerals and vitamins to help meet the daily requirements of your animals. It is available in a 200 pound non-returnable tub and will replace Crystalyx HE 12% in our stores.

STIMU-LYX High Mag Fescue Relief w/Tasco - A 25 percent protein supplement tub that is nutrient dense and contains Tasco, a seaweed derivative proven through university research to improve fiber and organic matter digestibility. Tasco has also been shown to reduce body temperature in cattle improving reproductive efficiency and grazing patterns. It is available in a 200 pound non-returnable tub and will replace Crystalyx Tasco 35-cp in our stores.

STIMU-LYX Stress Relief - A 14 percent all-natural supplement block designed for receiving cattle, breeding stock or other stressed cattle. It contains chelated minerals along with a B vitamin supplement ideal for cattle needing increased absorption of minerals along with a vitamin B complex during periods of stress. It also contains electrolytes for cattle that become dehydrated due to sickness and stress. This block has been tested on over 100,000 calves and has shown a reduction in pulls and an increase in growth and feed efficiency in calves. It is available in a 200 pound non-returnable tub and will replace Crystalyx Brigade in our stores.

STIMU-LYX FLY Relief IGR - Contains 19 percent protein, 5 percent fat and a complete mineral and vitamin package for beef calves and cows. It contains S-methroprene insect growth regulator (IGR) for continuous feeding to cattle through the horn fly season as a method to help prevent horn fly emergence from manure of treated cattle. It is available in a 200 pound non-returnable tub and will replace Crytalyx IGR Max and IGR PRO in our stores.

STIMU-LYX Horizon Equi-lyx - Designed for horses and contains 12 percent protein and 5 percent fat. It combines energy, protein, minerals and vitamins along with optimum palatability for horses of any age or type. This supplement also contains chelated trace minerals and biotin for hoof growth and integrity. It is available in 200, 50 and 33 pound non-returnable tubs and will replace Crystalyx Stablyx in our stores. The 33 pound tub is designed to hang in a horse stall for producers who want to supplement stalled horses.

STIMU-LYX Performance Goat - Designed for goat producers and should not be fed to sheep due to elevated copper levels. It contains protein, energy, minerals and vitamins to meet the daily needs of goats. It also contains ammonium chloride for the reduction of calcium deposits in the urinary tract of goats. Ammonium chloride is the source of NPN listed on the product tag. It is available in 200, 50 and 33 pound non-returnable plastic tubs and it replaces Crystalyx Goatlyx in our stores. The 33 pound tub is designed to hang in a small goat pen or stall for ease of use.

I hope you will see from our product line-up we have taken great care in making sure we have developed well-fortified products to meet the needs of almost any feeding situation in Alabama. We look forward to these supplements being available this fall. If you have any questions, please call me at (256) 947-7886 or contact me at jimmyh@alafarm.com.
