In
previous articles I have been informing you about some of the activities
in which FFA members participate. I would like to inform you that we are
excited about presenting prize money and/or awards to FFA members from
all across the state for their participation in FFA activities. FFA
members will compete in fifteen different Career Development Events, 25
different Proficiency Award areas, Crime Prevention Awards, M.K. Heath
Animal Health Award, District/State Star Farmer Awards, Mindy Stringer
Memorial Scholarship, National Chapter Awards, Francis Mizell Memorial
Scholarship, Bob’s Fundraising Scholarship, and Future Farmer/Agribusinessman
of the Year Award this year at the state level.
The
most important thing that you need to know about all of the prize money,
banners, plaques, scholarships, etc. awarded is that they are made
possible through the efforts of many partners in education that the FFA
Association has developed over the 77 years of its existence. One of the
partners that we are referring to is Alabama Farmers Cooperative. They
have been a generous sponsor of FFA activities for many years. Without
the financial backing of our partners and the wonderful assistance of
the 335 local agriscience teachers in this state, the Alabama FFA could
not offer all of these opportunities to its members.
Livestock
Another
activity of FFA and 4-H members in our state that I wanted to mention in
this article is the youth livestock exhibitions. There are various shows
around the state in which students have the opportunity to compete and
learn valuable life lessons in the process. The time, effort, skill, and
money that goes into youth livestock projects across this state is
helping to develop the future citizens and leaders of our state. The
livestock program in this state also has its fair share of partners that
make it possible for that program to exist including, again, Alabama
Farmers Cooperative. We don’t take the time to thank those that
sponsor the activities in which our youth in Alabama benefit. I don’t
want to list, for fear of leaving some out, all of the sponsors of
activities that FFA members are privileged to participate in, but I do
want to take advantage of this opportunity to say to all of the sponsors
a heart felt THANK YOU for your contribution to worthwhile activities
for Alabama’s youth.
